Friday December 28th
The club is saddened to hear of the deaths of two of its former stalwarts.
Former Club President Arno Stark has passed away at the age of 83. Arno was President in the 1970s.
Former player Tommy Cunliffe has passed away at the age of 92. Tommy's first team career spanned three decades from 1940 to 1964. He scored 1603 runs at senior level.
Thursday November 22nd
Accrington 3rds begin next season with a trip to Lowerhouse on Monday May 6th. There will be one less game next season following the withdrawal of Todmorden who have been in the league since 2001. [Fixtures]
Wednesday November 14th
Accrington have appointed former Lowerhouse and Burnley all rounder Graham Bushell as Club Coach. Graham will be rersponsible for coaching both the seniors and the juniors.

Accrington picked up the Joe Collier Award for Sportsmanship at the Lancashire League's Annual Dinner at The Fence Gate Inn tonight. Howard Cook of League sponsor Heinekin re-presented the club with the Holland Cup.

Accrington announced that Ashar Zaidi has re-signed to return next season after today's final match against Burnley.
Tuesday September 4th
Accrington go into the final double header weekend of the season 10 points behind defending champions Lowerhouse. Graham Lloyd's men need maximum points from their two home matches to stand any chance of an eighth league title.
In-form Rishton are the visitors on Saturday. Accrington name an unchanged team. Shaun Hutchinson returns for Rishton in place of veteran Craig Smith.

Accrington face two double header weekends as the 2012 season draws to a close. On Saturday Accrington visit East Lancs to replay the match that was abandoned on July 7th. East Lancs make two changes with David Turner and Ben Westhead replacing Adam Chester and Mo Bhada.

Accrington entertain bogey team Nelson at Thorneyholme Road on Saturday. Accrington have beaten Nelson just twice in league games over the last five seasons, although they have won the last two meetings between the sides at Seedhill, one of which was in the Worsley Cup earlier this season. You have to go back to 2004 for Accrington's last home win against Nelson. Graham Lloyd returns to skipper Accrington who also name professional Ashar Zaidi who missed last Sunday's match at Ramsbottom with a knee injury. Jake Clarke drops down to the seconds. Joe Scuderi stands in as sub professional for Nelson who also give a debut to Tyler McGladdery in place of David Crotty.

Saturday is Dream Derby Semi Final Day again as Accrington hosts its biggest match since the Cup final of 1989 as two of the Lancashire League's top clubs Accrington and Church meet in a Worsley Cup semi final for the third time.
The match was abandoned on Saturday June 30th with Accrington well placed on 104-2 but rain stopped play with another eight balls to be bowled to allow the match to continue during the following week
Church won the 1974 meeting at West End on the way to winning the trophy for the only time in their history and Accrington gained revenge two years later in the long hot summer of 1976 at Thorneyholme Road which was the last time a Worsley Cup semi final was played on the ground.

Today the sides sit in fourth and fifth place in the league table both clubs having won eleven of their league games to date. Accrington have won the league meeting between the clubs at West End back in May by 31 runs, a victory that took Jimmy Hayhurst's men to the top of the table. Accrington name a twelve man squad, including Paul Carroll, Bryn Hargreaves and Jake Clarke. Church have not disclosed their team.
On Sunday Accrington travel to Ramsbottom. Jimmy Hayhurst replaces Paul Carroll in the Accrington team. Richard Rothwell returns for Ramsbottom in place of Mark Dentith.

Another July double header awaits. On Saturday, fifth placed Accrington entertain sixth placed Haslingden who handed out a 132 run thrashing at Bentgate when the teams last met. Bryn Hargreaves replaces Graham Lloyd in the Accrington team. Matt Wilson is named as captain. Haslingden are almost back at full strength with professional Harry Boam named in the team after missing last Sunday's win at Bacup with a back injury along with Lewis McIntosh, Mo Imtiaz, Jack Sudworth and Matt Griffin in place of Muneeb Ahmed, Josh Walker, Matt Marcroft and Oliver Lord.

Saturday July 21st
The seconds are out of the Junior Cup. Ramsbottom thrashed Accrington at Thorneyholme Road in the semi final. Ramsbottom made 264-8 and then bowled Accrington out for 74.
Wednesday July 18th
Jimmy Hayhurst has stood down as Accrington captain. Hayhurst said: "Due to work commitments I will step down for this moment in time until the end of the season and then reassess the situation in the winter months. Graham Lloyd will captain the team for the rest of the season."

Another double header weekend sees Accrington visit champions Lowerhouse on Saturday and Haslingden on Sunday. Accrington and Lowerhouse have already met twice this season at Thorneyholme Road in the league and LCB Cup with the champions coming out on top both times. Having said that Accrington are the last team to beat the champions in August last year. Graham Lloyd replaces Stuart Crabtree in the Accrington team. Matt Walker replaces Joe Hawke in the Lowerhouse team.

A triple header weekend starts on Friday with a 20/20 home match against Church. Both the firsts and seconds are in cup action on Saturday. The firsts travel to Nelson and the seconds visit Enfield. The two clubs have met six times in the Worsley Cup with five wins for Nelson and just one win for Accrington back in the championship season of 1975. The most recent meeting between the clubs was in 2002 when Joe Scuderi hit an unbeaten 113 and Paul Garaghty 53 as Nelson piled up 237-6 and then restricted Accrington to 144-8. Graham Lloyd and Matt Wilson return for Accrington in place of Bryn Hargreaves and Sam Tattersall. Tom Bradshaw and Richard Meade replace Chris Willan and Lewis Bradley in the Nelson team. After considering the comments from all clubs involved in cup games, the League Executive have resolved as follows:-
Saturdays matches should be played if conditions permit. However if play is not possible they will be played on Sunday 24th June.
If a game starts and the first innings is completed but conditions prevent any further play on the day, the game will continue in evening play next week.
If a game starts and less than 25 overs are completed in the first innings, the game will be abandoned (except if first innings is completed) and be replayed on 24th June. If 25 overs or more are completed, the game will recommence from that position on 24th June.

The club has won just six matches out of 27 since 1990. Three of those wins were four seasons ago when Accrington won the cup at Todmorden. Since the final all three games went the way of the opposition with two defeats to Todmorden and one to Sunday's opponents Colne in 2010. Accrington are without Graham Lloyd and Andrew Greenwood so Paul Carroll and Jake Clarke come in.

Jacob Johnson scored his maiden century in the Thirds 81 run home win over Burnley. Jacob hit eleven fours and four sixes in scoring 107 from 114 balls as Accrington made 192-6. Sam Tattersall also made an unbeaten 31. Ben Brierley then took 6-33 to bowl Burnley out for 111.

Last season's top two Lancashire League clubs Lowerhouse and Accrington will meet each other in the 2nd round of the LCB Cup on Saturday May 26th at Thorneyholme Road. The match will go ahead on this date providing the Worsley Cup ties of the previous Sunday have been completed.
The 3rds take on Burnley at Thorneyholme Road on Saturday. On Sunday Accrington travel down Blackburn Road to meet local rivals Rishton. Accrington's record against Rishton has been excellent in the last five seasons with eight wins and just two defeats. Accrington take an unchanged side whilst Rishton bring in Shaun Wyse and Mark Leathert in place of Craig Smith and Matthew Nuttall.

The Under 15s will play Baxenden in the final of the Hyndburn Indoor Competition. The team have beaten Enfield and Great Harwood to reach the final. Long time Accrington supporter and former Match day barman Jim McCormack passed away on Friday January 13th in Blackburn Royal Hospital at the age of 64 after a long illness. He is survived by his son Duncan and his ex wife Jean. The funeral will be held on Tuesday January 24th at 1.30pm at Accrington Crematorium. Family flowers only.
