Graham Beech top scored with 73 in Accrington’s 11 run win over Todmorden at Thorneyholme Road. The opener hit ten boundaries, three of which were off successive balls in the 31st over bowled by Bob Whitaker, in an innings that lasted two hours and 17 minutes, adding 45 with Peter West (17) for the 1st wicket. Malcolm Taylor (17), Glyn Davies (16) and John Swanney (14) also chipped in with Whitaker taking 4-50 for the visitors. Todmorden got off to a rapid start in reply in spite of losing Brian Heywood in the first over. Professional Mohsin Khan was trapped in front by his opposite number Alan Worsick for 31 with the score on 38 in the fifth over after the home pro’ had changed ends. Solid knocks in the middle order by Garth Stansfield (35), Brian Whittaker (25), Phil Morgan (24) and Jim Clayton (20) put the visitors in a good position but the game changed after Dave Parsons (3-55) dismissed Whittaker and Worsick (6-46) accounted for Stansfield as the last 5 wickets fell for the addition of just 5 runs. Wicketkeeper Paul Graham picked up 3 catches for Accrington. Scorecard
