A century opening stand set up a 62 run win for Church at Thorneyholme Road. Professional Shafiq Ahmed (62, including eight boundaries) and Billy Wilkinson (51) put on 112 before both fell to Dave Parsons (3-81). Ian Osborne (30) and Tommy George (17) continued the momentum as the visitors piled up 197 all out. Home professional Alan Worsick picked up 4-61. The evergreen Jack Houldsworth (5-71) and Shafiq (4-53) soon had Accrington in trouble as 33-2 became 50-5 and 81-8. Late resistance from Alan Kennedy (39) and Tony Gallagher (23) took the score to 135 after Graham Beech had earlier made 26 and Worsick 19. The win was Church's first over Accrington in five games and their first win of the season after six successive defeats. Scorecard
