Accrington won their opening match of the season at The Horsfield in convincing fashion after piling up 192-3. John Swanney made an unbeaten 86, Peter West 55, Malcolm Taylor 36 not out but Graham Beech made only 2 as his record breaking season got underway in quiet style. Professional Alan Worsick (6-57) and Dave Parsons (4-55) then combined to bowl Colne out for 114. Martin Beechy made an unbeaten 37, Philip Davies 25 and Howard Lonsdale 18 in their home sides innings. Scorecard
