Situations
Vacant
Duncan Warburton
is to become the Lancashire Leagues Assistant Secretary in May. This means
that Duncan will have to relinquish his roles as Cricket
Section Secretary and Lancashire League representative. These roles
need to be filled as a matter of urgency. Kim
Sneddon has taken up the role as Treasurer.
Matt Wilson has been appointed as first team captain. Dave Kennedy will
skipper the seconds and Zaed Hussain takes charge of the thirds.
Thanks
Peter Ingham has constructed the sight boards, thanks given to Arthur
McGilveray and David Lloyd Senior for painting the boards.
Help
Assistance is needed on match days in various ways. Please see Rod Kenyon
if you can help.
The
digital age
Accrington have joined the digital age. The club is the first in the Lancashire
League to have an electronic scoreboard after fire destroyed the old traditional
box last October. Lionel Cooke will have the honour of operating the board,
in addition to scoring, being match announcer and of course keeping himself
well fed. [Pic]

In December 2003, the Club formed an Action Group to implement some of
the ideas put forward by the Membership at the EGM. The Group has since
been meeting on a regular basis and will be working hard in the coming
months to increase income via fund raising activities and sponsorship.
It is vital that the members support the efforts of the Action Group as
we strive to achieve one common goal - to make Accrington Cricket Club
successful.
Practice
and coaching
Russ Cuddihy and Graham Lloyd will be coaching seniors at the club
on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Well
done to Richard Burrows, Pete Conroy, Andy Eland and Zaed Hussain who
have passed the ECB Level 1 coaching award. [Pic]

Results
and players
New signing Adam Wilson made an impressive 45 on his first team debut,
putting on 81 for the first wicket with Mohsin Ahmed, who hit 51 in Accrington's
155-7 in a pre-season friendly against Clitheroe at Thorneyholme Road.
Skipper Matt Wilson (22) and Graeme Sneddon (14 not out) also kept the
new electronic scorebox ticking over. Jimmy Hayhurst then picked up the
first two Clitheroe wickets as the visitors looked unhappy at 5-2, but
they recovered to record a 5 wicket win with 1 over to spare. Hayhurst
picked up 4-14 in 8 overs with Damian Clarke testing his injured shoulder
in taking 1-37. The seconds also lost in the last over at Clitheroe on
Easter Monday.
Transfers were granted to Adam Greenwood (to Church) and Kamran Khan (to
Enfield).
