Greenmount got their Lancashire League adventure off to a victorious start with a 7 run win at Accrington. Greenmount professional Chesney Hughes top scored with 66 in his sides 238-6. Opener Andy Kerr became the first Greenmount player to lose his wicket in the Lancashire League when he fell to Tom Walker without scoring at 3. Evan Williams and Hughes put on 98 for the 2nd wicket when the amateur was trapped in front by Toby Bulcock (3-71) for 38. Hughes was run out by Yousuf Ali after hitting eight boundaries with the score on 137. Bulcock held a return catch off Tom Heaton (27) at 153 and 13 runs later Jack Harrison was caught by Bulcock off Walker for 24. Skipper Ryan Senior fell to Bulcock at 191 for 25 leaving Andy McGuinness (17 not out) and Matt Donnelly (28 not out) to add a late stand of 47 when the overs ran out. Keiran Edwards sent back openers Stuart Crabtree (1) and Matt Wilson (5) cheaply but sub professional Jack Edgar had hit a fine half century, making 55 from 59 balls with six fours and a six when he fell to Lewis Dove. Edgar and Walker put on 89 for the 23rd wicket with Walker hitting a senior best 45 before falling to Williams at 128. Bulcock was run out for 21 at 157 and Jon Hayhurst (7) fell to Andy McGuinness at 181. Home skipper Graeme Sneddon hit two sixes and three fours in his 38 before he too fell to McGuinness. Riley Armstrong (1) and Jimmy Hayhurst (5) were both run out in the quest for late runs. Andy Greenwood was unbeaten on 27 and Ali was 6 not out when the innings closed on 231-9 just before 8pm.
