A thriller at Rochdale saw the home side beat Accrington by 1 wicket with just 2 balls to spare. Wicketkeeper Jamie Roche was the hero hitting the winning boundary off Jacob Clarke to finish 16 not out. Professional Karl Brown marked his Lancashire League debut for Accrington by top scoring with 60 in his sides 211-5. New openers Tom Pettini and Shah Meeran Zia put on 62 before Zia was trapped in front by Rochdale sub professional Neil Dexter for 26. Pettini hit five fours in making 45 from 89 balls before being caught behind by Roche off Ollie Makin at 78. Keiren Grimshaw joined Brown to add 107 for the 3rd wicket, both men making half centuries. Grimshaw hit six fours in making 52 from 65 balls before being trapped in front by Makin (2-66). Skipper Michael Harling (2-39) had Brown caught by his opposite number Dexter for 60 with 194 on the board. Brown hit six fours and a s six from 76 balls. Clarke was unbeaten on 11 when the innings closed. Skipper Ross Brown broke the opening stand at 40 trapping Jack Duffy in front for 13. Four runs later Andy Dawson fell to Clarke for 26. Ross Brown removed Jamie Bohannon for 10 but Dexter and Harling put on 67 for the 4th wicket before the Leicestershire man fell to Raheem Kasser for 58 made from 66 balls. Ross Brown (3-68) removed his opposite number Harling for 29 at 171 with Kasser accounting for Makin (1), Derek Faulkner (5) and Haris Hussain (22), at 2019 to record senior best figures of 4-33. Roche and last man Steve Oddy held their nerve to secure the points at the death.
