Norden have gone to the top of the Lancashire League table for the first time after a 4 wicket win in a 26 overs per side game at Accrington. Chasing 140 for victory, skipper Hashum Malik was the hero with an unbeaten 37 from 30 balls, including three sixes and two fours to see Norden to victory with 2 balls to spare. After Jacob Clarke removed Josh Tolley for 5 at 14, Harvey Fitton and Saif Bhojani put on 46 for the 2nd wicket. Bhojani was caught behind by Sam Bancroft for 26 and three runs later Fitton was stumped by Bancroft off skipper Ross Brown for 27. Professional Jake Sandham (15) also fell to Ross Brown at 96 and one run later Greg Butterworth was bowled by the Accrington skipper without scoring. Lee Crabtree made 9 before being caught at long on by Clarke off Jimmy Hayhurst at 114 but Steve Pimm (9 not out) joined his skipper to see Norden to an historic victory. Home professional Karl Brown batted through the innings for an unbeaten 56, including two fours and a six, made from 77 balls. He added 77 with Clarke (37 from 47 balls with four fours), 30 with Keiren Grimshaw (12) and an unbroken 31 with Graeme Sneddon who hit 17 not out from 13 balls. Sandham took 2-29 with wicketkeeper Crabtree helping out with all three wickets.
