Accrington beat Lowerhouse by 7 wickets at The Property Shop Arena to secure a first victory over the pre-season title favourites for six years. Jacob Clarke (3-29) removed Dean Barlow without scoring at 1 and then Jimmy Hayhurst picked up skipper Ben Heap (1) at the same total. Professional Ockert Erasmus and Francois Haasbroek took the score to 33 when Clarke struck again to have the ex Accrington professional caught behind by Sam Bancroft for 8. Paddy Martin (2) fell to Clarke three runs later but brother Joe (15) put on 39 for the 5th wicket with Haasbroek before being caught by Clarke off skipper Ross Brown. Five runs later Charlie Cottam fell to Accrington professional Karl Brown (2-37) without scoring. Ross Brown then removed Haasbroek for 42 at 87, Joe Halstead (3) at 91 and Joe Hawke (2) at 93. Karl Brown polished off the innings by removing Chris Bleazard (1) without addition. Hawke removed openers Tom Pettini (1) and Meeran Shah (7) to have Accrington 13-2 but Karl Brown and Keiren Grimshaw put on 71 for the 3rd wicket. Halstead trapped Brown in front for 29 but Grimshaw went on to hit an unbeaten 50, including six fours to take Accrington to victory with 14 overs to spare.
