League leaders Walsden secured a first ever win over Accrington coming out on top by 4 wickets at The Property Shop Arena. Keiren Grimshaw top scored with 73 in Accrington's 108 all out. Opener Jon Hayhurst (10) was the only other player in double figures. Jamie Shackleton took 4-40 and Stevie Barker 2-22 for Walsden. Shackleton struck first by removing opener Graeme Sneddon without scoring at 2. Professional Janith Liyanage took 22 balls to score 1 before being trapped in front by Barker. Shackleton bowled Jon Hayhurst at 21 and 3 runs later Jacob Clarke edged the medium pacer to wicketkeeper Matt Dawson. Barker clean bowled Ramiz Hussain without scoring to have Accrington in trouble at 34-5. Ten runs later skipper Ross Brown also fell without scoring to Shackleton. Andrew Greenwood helped Grimshaw add 53 for the 7th wicket before being run out. Sam Bancroft fell to a spectacular catch behind by Dawson off Joe Gale (1-18). Jimmy Hayhurst played on to Josh Gale 10 runs later to become the sixth batsman to fail to trouble the scorers. Grimshaw was last man out for a fine 73 which included eleven fours and a six from 74 balls when he top edged Walsden professional Umesh Karunaratne (1-20) to Jake Hooson. Clarke took 4-45 to have Walsden uncomfortable at 66-5 but an unbeaten 57 by opener Josh Gale saw Walsden to win number seventeen. Gale hit seven fours during his 86 ball innings, losing partner Hooson (4) to Jimmy Hayhurst at 21. Skipper Nick Barker (6) fell at 33 to Clarke who also picked up James Rawlinson (5) at 45, Karunaratne (4) at 54 and Dawson (5) at 75. Liyanage cleaned up Joe Gale (5) at 66 but Stevie Barker (12 not out) proved the perfect foil for Josh Gale, facing 24 balls and hitting two fours to see Walsden home after 31 overs.
