A steady all round performance by professional Janith Liyanage helped Accrington to a 36 run win over Nelson at The Property Shop Arena. After the loss of openers Graeme Sneddon (0) and Jon Hayhurst (1), Liyanage and Keiren Grimshaw put on 80 for the 3rd wicket. Grimshaw hit eight fours in making 53 from 52 balls, his fourth half century of the season before falling to sub professional Daryn Smit. Liyanage hit two fours and a six in his innings of 41. Smit also removed Jacob Clarke (12) and Andrew Greenwood (1) in taking 3-29. James Hayhurst (26) and Sam Bancroft (10) then put on 41 for the 8th wicket to help Accrington recover from 127-7 to 175-9. Neil Thompson took 4-51 and Matthew Heap 2-46 for Nelson. Liyange then took 4-37, Raheem Kasser 2-9 and Clarke 2-30 to secure victory in the 42nd over. Smit top scored with 36 before falling to Clarke, David Crotty hit 20 and Michael Bradley, extras and Wasim Qureshi all made 21 for Nelson with the youngster staying unbeaten.
