Lancashire League champions Ramsbottom got the defence of their title back on track with a comprehensive 133 run win over Accrington at Acre Bottom. Accrington's David Ormerod took his 500th Lancashire League wicket for the club. After Jimmy Hayhurst (1-39) had removed home skipper Tom Parton (9), Ormerod clean bowled opener Fraser Kay for 21. Martin Cropper made 26 before Ormerod trapped him in front to claim his 500th wicket for the club. Sub professional Brett Pelser made 72 from 80 balls with five fours and two sixes but it was Brad Fielding who stole the show hitting ten fours and three sixes in making a brilliant 81 from 57 balls, adding 118 with Pelser for the 5th wicket. Ramsbottom closed on a daunting 253-6. Simon Read removed openers Ramiz Hussain (18) and skipper Simon Hanson (12) and he then picked up Keiren Grimshaw (1). Jon Fielding came in to the attack and picked up Jacob Clarke (1), Asef Mahmood (1), Ross Brown (1) and Graeme Sneddon (6) but professional Michael Erlank kept the scoreboard ticking over as wickets fell around him, hitting his maiden Lancashire League half century, making 56 from 98 balls with six fours before falling to Tom Booth.
