Accrington v Bacup
Accrington beat Bacup by just 1 run in a thriller at Thorneyholme Road to end a run of five successive defeats. Accrington had been down and out at 58-7 in their innings and then with Bacup on 110-2 with professional Ernest Kemm at the crease on 39, defeat number six beckoned. Keiren Grimshaw made the breakthrough, bowling the Bacup professional and then Jimmy Hayhurst returned to take 5-40 to help Accrington to a much needed win. Former Accrington batman Matt Schofield made 48 with four fours but Accrington professional Michael Erlank made up for another failure with the bat by having him caught behind by Sam Bancroft. Wickets tumbled to leave Bacup needing 8 off the final over with 2 wickets in hand. Four came off the first ball but Erlank (4-25) held his nerve to dismiss Matt Aspinall and Luke Donovan to secure victory with 1 ball to spare. Graeme Sneddon had earlier top scored with an unbeaten 59 in Accrington's 155-9. Batting at number eight, Sneddon hit six fours and a six after Accrington had slumped to 58-7. Sneddon added 49 for the 8th wicket with Alfie Taylor (15). Jimmy Hayhurst (7) and David Ormerod (8 not out) also dug in with Sneddon to give the home side something to defend. Jon Hayhurst also made 27 and opener Grimshaw 17 with Aspinall (4-26) and Kemm (4-34) picking up 4 wickets apiece for Bacup.
