Weekend Preview

The weekend action starts on Friday for the final time this season with JWL Bitter Group game leaders Burnley the visitors to The Property Shop Arena. Burnley have won two of the clubs three previous meetings in the competition with the other game ending as a no result.

The match begins at 6.15pm and will be followed by live entertainment in the clubhouse with The Riojas.

On Sunday Accrington will be looking for a third win in a row after beating Colne and Bacup on the previous two Sundays. Just four points separate the top five clubs in Division 2 with joint second placed Middleton travelling to The Property Shop Arena to face Accrington. Accrington won the only other previous meeting between the two clubs. Dale Highton, Leighton Le Carpentier and Keelan Shipley replace Peter Foden, Hayden Le Carpentier and Toqueer Khokher in Middleton's team. Accrington also make three changes with Damian Clarke, George Mills and Mohammed Tayyib replacing Asad Khan, James Hayhurst and Masihullah Patel.

The seconds travel to Middleton in the reverse fixture on Sunday.

The thirds entertain Rawtenstall on Saturday.

The club is looking for an umpire and a scorer for this game and for the remainder of the season.

Weekend teams

This season we have a double Looking Back Feature going back to 1993 when Neil Johnson was professional and also to 2013 when the club won the Lancashire League title for the last time with Ashar Zaidi as professional.

In 1993 Accrington's nine match losing streak ended with a comprehensive 9 wicket win at Dill Hall Lane over local rivals Enfield on Saturday June 26th. The following day Accrington went down to a 3 wicket defeat at Lowerhouse.

In 2013 league leaders Accrington beat the rain to move 29 points clear after beating Colne by 8 wickets to notch a 15th straight league win in a row on Saturday June 22nd.
