League leaders Accrington beat the rain to move 29 points clear after beating Colne by 8 wickets. Defeat for second placed Haslingden who lost for the first time since an opening day defeat at Thorneyholme Road increased the daylight at the top of the table. Tight bowling restricted Colne to 95 all out with Jimmy Hayhurst taking 3-15, Simon Hanson 2-5, professional Ashar Zaidi 2-13 and David Ormerod 2-56. Lewis Rimmer and Adam Holt made 18 apiece and Kenton Rhodes 17 not out for Colne. The league leaders made their intentions clear at the outset of their reply opening with skipper Graham Lloyd and Zaidi. Lloyd hit a boundary off his first ball but then he holed out to Brad Ramshead. This brought in Marley Ali and he and Zaidi put on a brisk 42 before Ali was caught by Jacob Clarke who was sub fielding for the injured Joel Duerden, for 16, including one mighty six off Colne professional Shadley van Schalkwyke. Zaidi went on to make an unbeaten 47 with eight fours and a six from just 24 balls to lead Accrington to victory in the eighth over, chasing a revised target of 73 from 21 overs. The win was Accrington's 15th in the league in a row.
