Weekend Preview Another historic fixture on Sunday sees fifth placed Accrington take on sixth placed Church at West End. Both clubs were beaten in rain affected games for the first time last Sunday. In the 257 previous Lancashire League meetings between the teams Accrington have 87 wins and Church 83 wins with a further 87 games finishing as draws/No Results. Accrington make four changes. Captain Graeme Sneddon returns along with Riley Armstrong, Yousuf Ali and Matt Taylor in place of Ric Williams, Waleed Majeed, Ali Hasham and Jimmy Hayhurst. Alice Clarke will keep wicket. Monton's Dushan Vimukthi will stand in as sub professional for Church who also bring in Andrew Bentley in place of Tom Braysford. The seconds host Church in the reverse fixture. The thirds travel to Rawtenstall on Saturday. This season we have a double Looking Back Feature going back to 1993 when Neil Johnson was professional and also to 2013 when the club won the Lancashire League title for the last time. The great start to the 1993 season turned sour after three successive wins with defeats on Saturday May 8th at Burnley followed by another loss the following day against Enfield on Sunday May 9th. A double header in the first weekend in May in 2013 saw league leaders Accrington notch a huge win over Rawtenstall on Saturday May 4th followed by a 16 run win in the local derby at Enfield on Sunday May 5th.
