Accrington Under 13s 2007

The Under 13's were captained this year by Bryn Hargreaves. The squad consisted of 11 players. We played 9 league games, winning 3 and losing 6, and ended up in a mid table position. (second from bottom) !. We lost the cup game in the first round to Darwen. In the first half of the season we played, in general, some terrible cricket and in the second some fantastic cricket, and to be honest no real reason why the sudden turnaround. For example we lost the second game of the season by a massive 102 runs against a very good Haslingden team and in the return fixture, towards the end of the season the game went to the last over and we lost by a couple of runs. The plus point is that all the players improved and there attitude towards the game and to the opposition was superb and they are all a credit to Accrington CC.

The team was Bryn Hargreaves, Sam Tattersall, Jacob Johnson, Sharuq Kahn, Sabeel Khan, Ryan Pearson, Jacob Clarke, Harris Ali, Josh Roberts, Ben Brierley and James Entwistle.

Thanks to all supporting parents, and Haggis and Connor Tattersall for scoring and Peter and Ian for producing top wickets and an excellent outfield for the boys to play their cricket.

Monday May 14th
In the home game versus Haslingden U'13,s. Accrington lost by a massive 103 runs. Batting first Haslingden made 305 for the loss of 1 wicket, it was actually not that bad a bowling performance by Accrington who beat the bat on numerous occasions without any luck, and fielded very well. The team let themselves down however batting, with poor running between the wickets and poor shot selection, we limped to 203 losing 6 wickets against a very lively and quick bowling attack.

Tuesday May 8th
The first league game of the season away to Rawtenstall was rained off.

Friday May 4th
In the Under 13's Cup Game versus Darwen, Accrington lost by 50 runs against a strong Darwen team. Only performance of note was Bryn Hargreaves with 32n.o. (had to retire at 30).
