11s Manager's
report by Saf Ali We managed to find the ground easier than we thought. Nice little spot in the country, with an artificial track!! One slight problem? They had been muck spreading in nearby fields and the scent was 'Minging'. Matty lost the toss (intentionally!!) and they chose to bowl. The opening pair of Callum and Ashley did well. They scored 2 in total. (Callum 2 and Ashley 0). More importantly neither lost a wicket and batted with good discipline and concentration. The next pair, Ryan Ormerod and Jake Clarke put on 6 in total. Both scored 3 a piece. (Jake lost one life). Once again the boys batted with discipline, especially Ryan who played some excellent defensive shots. Jake also was unfortunate not to score more runs, as he played some nice shots, but they all found fielders. The third pair, the Skipper and Vice Skipper Matty and Marley put on a brilliant partnership of 21 (Matt 11 Marley 10). Matt lost one life, caught brilliantly off a super shot that looked like a 4 all the way. Both boys also hit a couple of super 4's to finish off a great partnership. The last pair of Hassan Ahmed and Josh Armstrong came in and batted with patience and aggression. Hassan played some great defensive shots and finished on 6, losing one life, by unfortunately playing on. Josh played with patience and aggression, hitting some powerful shots, finishing on 9. Overall the team batted brilliantly from start to finish. Very proud of the lads. We also fielded superbly. Jake, Ashley, Callum, Matty and Josh all took a wicket a piece. Ryan also threw a great ball to the stand in keeper, Marley, who took a brilliant stumping off Ryan's bowling. Towards the end of the innings, Callum managed to run out one of the Longridge boys with a great throw, getting a direct hit. On the whole, the boys played brilliantly, and deserved the victory. Super all round display.
