11s Manager's
report by Saf Ali First of all, we could not believe it did not rain, as the biggest nastiest clouds were loomimg in the sky!! However the game was played with no interruptions. The Skipper (Matty Schofield) won the toss and elected to bat. The first two batters, Ryan Ormerod and Conor Brown came in and did well to keep out the 'Fenny' bowlers. Conor played a very sound innings scoring nil, but losing no lifes. Ryan Conceded 2 lifes, but scored 2 runs. Ryan finished well, especially after taking one in the ribs late on in his innings. The next pair, Marley Ali and Ashley Whittaker picked up the pace, Marley scored 7 runs and Ashley 0. Unfortunately we lost 4 Lifes. (Marley 1 Ashley 3). Ashley did well, after taking a ball on the fingers (ouch!!). The pace definitely picked with the next pair of Johnny Hayhurst and Jake Shephard. Both lads batted with DISCIPLINE and ran some quick singles. Both batters finished on the same score, 13. Neither player lost any lifes. The last pair, Skipper Matty Schofield and Simon Hanson came to the crease and scored 7 runs. (Matty 4 Simon 3). Simon also lost one Life. All credit to the Feniscowles bowlers who did well to contain the 'Gruesome Twosome' Overall we scored 257 runs, but lost 42 runs in lost lifes. On paper we scored more runs than Feniscolwes (249), but also conceded 7 wickets. Nevertheless we did well, and overall we had a good game, and everybody was up for action. At one point The whole team chased the same ball ( comical to watch ). Congratulations to Feniscowles, and well done to team manager Dave Ashcroft for playing the game in the spirit intended. (Played the slower players against our younger players and vice versa).
