11s Manager's
report by Saf Ali This was our last game of the season, and our opposition, East Lancs came with a strong young side. Matty Schofield lost the toss again, deliberately, and East Lancs put us into bat. We had nine players to select, so with the agreement of East Lancs we played Brad Juliff and Ashley Whittaker. Brad was the 'Batter' and Ashley the 'Bowler'. We opened with Callum and Brad. The boys did very well against some good bowling. Callum scored 4 runs and Brad was 0, Brad was unlucky when he was out on one occasion. The next pair, Ryan Pearson and Jake Clarke then came in and picked up the pace. Jake played the defensive role, scoring 0 runs, but also losing no lives. 'Razzer' on the other hand went on a run fest, scoring 17 not out. Brilliant performance again, on only his second appearance. The next pair, Matty & Marley then came to the crease, and pushed the score. Matty Scored a quick 19 and lost one life. Marley scored 2 and also lost 1 life. The final pair, of Waqar and Jake Shephard then came in and scored a quickfire 18. Jake scored 6 and Waqar 12. Waqar also lost one life. On the bowling front, everybody contributed with Matty taking 2 wickets, Marley 2, Ryan 1 and Waqar 1. In the last over, East Lancs needed 7 runs to win. They then needed 2 off 2 balls. The game was tense. Matt ran and bowled, the bowl went to young Jake Clarke, who picked up the bowl and threw the bowl to Callum Ali, who in turn stumped the East Lancs batter. Great all round teamwork by the boys, resulting in a deserved victory. We have 3 games to rearrange, however East Lancs cannot play their Home fixture. The other 2 fixtures are against Haslingden.(Home & away). We await a contact call from them. If they cannot play, then the East Lancs game was our last game of the season. A fantastic way to finish the season.
