On another day where rain affected all of the matches in both divisions Middleton have gone to the top of Division 2 with an 8 wicket win at Accrington with former leaders Church rained off at Crompton. Professional Jacob Clarke top scored with 105 in Accrington's 155-6. Clarke hit eleven fours and two sixes in his fourth century for the club, passing 3,000 Lancashire League runs. When he fell to Rehan Udwadia in the 44th over the players left the field as the Heavens opened. Richard Fitton cleaned up Ben Gorton (1) at 6 and Udwadia had Ali Hasham (4) caught behind by Keelan Shipley at 25. Rhys Tierney trapped Kian Farnworth (9) in front at 44 and James Tierney did likewise to George Mills who made 8 on his Lancashire League debut for Accrington. Yousuf Ali (16) and Clarke added 59 for the 5th wicket before Ali fell to Tom Rutter. Skipper Graeme Sneddon was unbeaten on 2 when the innings ended. Chasing a revised target of 161 from 36 overs Shipley (26) and skipper Andy Gregoriou (38) fell to Gorton at 75 and 79 respectively. Professional James Price (37 not out) joined Udwadia (38 not out) to take Middleton to victory after 34 overs with an unbroken 3rd wicket stand of 84.
