A 4 wicket win at Accrington takes Crompton clear at the top of the Division 2 table. Ben Gorton hit his maiden Lancashire League century in Accrington's 206-9. The opener hit eighteen fours in making 113 from 134 balls. Gorton added 27 with Stuart Crabtree (19), 19 with Jon Hayhurst (0), 101 with professional Jacob Clarke (35), 2 with Toby Bulcock (1), 12 with skipper Graeme Sneddon (0), 21 with Andy Greenwood (6) and 11 with Kian Farnworth (5) before falling to Muhammad Zuhaib at 193. Zuhaib also removed Yousuf Ali (4) to finish with a career best 5-34. Rick Williams (2 not out) and Matt Taylor (1 not out) were the not out batsmen. Big hitting professional Mohammad Jamal proved he could play the long game too with a match winning unbeaten 55, including five fours, made from 85 balls. Crompton lost openers skipper Denis Louis (47) at 66 and Jake Hooson (26) at 83 with Harry Dean (2) run out in between. Ali sent back Hassan Fazal (10) and Simon Wright (8) with Bulcock also picking up Kain Dean (4) to have Crompton in trouble at 109-6. Jamal and Mohammed Hamzah fought back with a match winning stand of 98 with Hamzah unbeaten on 42 when the match was won with 8 balls remaining.
