Keiren Grimshaw led Accrington to victory at Darwen for the second season running. Grimshaw hit a brilliant unbeaten 66 from 109 balls with nine boundaries after Accrington had bowled Darwen out for 165. Jimmy Hayhurst took 4-35, Jacob Clarke 3-38 and sub professional Will Davis 2-27 for the visitors. Davis struck the first blow by removing Jordan Clarke before a run had been scored. Clarke trapped new professional Marques Ackerman for 1 with the score on 11. Skipper Scott Friend (24) and John Cordingley took the score to 51 when Hayhurst removed the home captain. Scott Jackson went to the same bowler without addition, caught by wicketkeeper Sam Bancroft and then Accrington skipper Ross Brown trapped Cordingley (19) to secure a third wicket at the same score. Mark Friend (10) and Dave Bowden (28) took the score to 75 when Clarke sent back the former skipper. Bowden fell to Davis at 85 and Clarke had Reece Willets caught by Jon Hayhurst for 4. Kamran Anwar again got amongst the runs making the top score of the innings before falling to Hayhurst for 34. Hayhurst also removed Niall Burke (10). Anwar picked up Jon Hayhurst for 13 at 29 but Meeran Shah and Grimshaw put on 69 before Shah was run out for 28. Clarke (43 not out) hit eight fours in adding an unbroken 68 with Grimshaw to steer Accrington to an 8 wicket victory in the 45th over. The win takes Accrington up to fourth place.
