Accrington v Crompton
Accrington picked up maximum points after a 14 run win over Crompton at The Property Shop Arena with a fine all round team performance. Accrington opener Jon Hayhurst was first to go for 5 when he was bowled by Carl Taylor (3-44) at 20. Adam Good clean bowled Meerhan Shah for 23 after the opener had put on 50 for the 2nd wicket with Keiren Grimshaw. Taylor trapped Grimshaw for 25 without addition and nine runs later sub professional Janith Liyanage fell to Taylor for 3. Jacob Clarke (34) and Graeme Sneddon (17) put on 36 before Sneddon was bowled by left arm medium pacer Matt Hodson. Clarke hit four fours before Sam Rigby held a return catch at 144. Skipper Ross Brown (10) fell to Hodson (3-43) after adding 20 with Sam Bancroft who was ninth out at 190 after making a league best 31 from 44 balls, adding 20 for the 8th wicket with Jimmy Hayhurst (4). Clarke removed the dangerous Mohammed Jamal (2) at 3 but Sam Rigby and sub professional Paul Horton put on 93 for the 2nd wicket. Brown removed Rigby for 25 and ten runs later Raheem Kasser trapped Dennis Louis for 7. The young leg spinner then had Horton stumped by Bancroft for 53, made from 84 balls and including three fours. Brown removed his opposite number Simon Wright without scoring at 111 and he sent back Josh Parker (1) at 124 with a second successive return catch. One run later Kasser (3-47) accounted for Stephen Wright without scoring. Adam Good (17) and Harry Dean put on 21 for the 8th wicket before Good fell to Brown (4-42). Dean and Taylor (8) added 22 before Dean fell to Grimshaw for 32. Grimshaw clean bowled Taylor with three balls remaining to secure a vital maximum points for Accrington.
