Burnley gained revenge over Accrington for last season's shock defeat with a 64 run win at Thorneyholme Road. Joey Marshall top scored with 43 in Burnley's 176-8. Skipper Dan Pickup also hit an unbeaten 22 with professional Asif Zakir and Matt Roberts both hitting 21 after Alec Jakeman (3-40) and professional Janith Liyanage (2-29) had removed both openers without scoring to have the visitors 1-2. Jimmy Hayhurst also took 2-14 for Accrington. Zakir hit back for Burnley by dismissing openers Ramiz Hussain (1) and Jon Hayhurst (0) Joe McCluskie sent back the dangerous Keiren Grimshaw (1) and Cole Hayman removed Jacob Clarke for 12. Tom Lawson cleaned up Jakeman for 15 and when Holt (4-32) held a return catch off Liyanage (42) Burnley were on a roll. Holt then dished out the same treatment to Accrington skipper Ross Brown (0). Graeme Sneddon's return was cut short when he was stumped by Chris Burton off Holt for 10 and the former professional struck again to end the innings of Sam Bancroft for 3. McCluskie finished off the innings by trapping Jimmy Hayhurst for 7 and Accrington were all out for 112 with 13 overs remaining.
