Accrington v Rishton
Jacob Clarke took 6-26 to set up an 8 wicket win for Accrington against local rivals Rishton at Thorneyholme Road. The visitors were on the ropes at 52-7 but sub professional Rob Nicol hit an unbeaten 86 from 107 balls with four fours and two sixes to help Rishton to 118 all out. Nicol was the only man in double figures with his opposite number Michael Erlank (2-22) finishing the innings off by dismissing the last two batsmen. A nasty looking injury to Nicol in his 5th over held up the match whilst an ambulance was called to take the stricken player off to hospital, reducing Accrington's target to 108 from 44 overs. Openers Ramiz Hussain (27) and skipper Simon Hanson put on 53 before stand-in skipper Scott Greaves (2-32) dismissed Hussain and then Erlank (16) at 79, leaving the new skipper to see his side home with Keiren Grimshaw (16 not out), hitting four fours in a 96 ball unbeaten 43 |
