Rishton ended Accrington's 16 match winning streak against them in the league by claiming a 50 run win at Blackburn Road. Professional Shaun Von Berg top scored with 93 from 118 balls, including nine fours and two sixes in Rishton's 228-5. He put on 110 for the 2nd wicket with Jon Dobson after Jimmy Hayhurst had removed Matt Nuttall before a run had been scored. Dobson made 30 from 85 balls before chipping Jacob Clarke to Accrington professional Ockert Erasmus at mid wicket. Bradley Boddie made 25 before chipping a return catch to Erasmus. A swift half century by Mo Patel enabled Rishton to accelerate. Patel hit four sixes and two fours from just 39 balls before top edging a return catch to David Ormerod on 52. Von Berg then took 4-61 and Kelly Mall 3-36 to dismiss Accrington for 178. Clarke (2) was the only player in Accrington's top six not to make a start, losing his wicket at 20 to Scott Greaves who also dismissed skipper Graeme Sneddon for 21 in taking 2-35 against his former side. Erasmus made 37, Simon Hanson 32, Keiren Grimshaw 21, Stuart Crabtree 24 and Ali Hasham 15 but no-one could play the match winning knock to prevent Rishton's first Lancashire League win against Accrington since 2007.
