Accrington moved up a place to 12th after a 74 run win over Rishton at Thorneyholme Road. Defending a modest 139-9, Accrington bowled their local rivals out for just 65. David Ormerod rolled back the years in taking 4-35 in 15 overs and professional Ockert Erasmus 4-22, Jimmy Hayhurst also added 2-7 to an unbeaten 26 with the bat. The veteran Ormerod struck the first blow by removing the dangerous Mo Patel before a run had been scored. He then beat Rishton professional Shaun von Berg all ends up just 2 runs later. Erasmus got in on the act by dismissing Brad Boddie (3), Ben Bridson (2) and Jon Dobson (7). Mark Leathert fought back with a top score of 23 before Ormerod struck again. Erasmus had earlier top scored with 47, including three fours in Accrington's innings. He added 50 with Jacob Clarke (24) after the early loss of skipper Graeme Sneddon (21), Keiren Grimshaw (0) and Simon Hanson (1). Von Berg took a league best 6-19 and skipper Matt Lambert 2-32 but Rishton suffered another blow when Scott Greaves sustained a broken thumb in the field.
