Defending champions Burnley have gone to the top of the Lancashire League table for the first time this season after winning one of only two matches to be played on another rain ravaged Saturday afternoon. The Tripathi brothers were at the forefront of the action with skipper Bharat taking 6-15 and opening batsman Vishal hitting an unbeaten 41 to lead Burnley to a 7 wicket win over Accrington at the MyProtein Turf Moor. The match didn't start until 4.30pm and began as a 20 overs a-side contest. Losing Keiren Grimshaw (10) to Burnley professional Chris Holt (3-47, passing 50 wickets for the season) at 11, Graeme Sneddon (11) and Jacob Clarke (15) took the total to 39 when both fell to Bharat Tripathi at the same score. Simon Hanson fell 10 runs later to Holt without troubling the scorers. Jon Hayhurst followed 1 later later also without scoring and at 59 Accrington professional Ockert Erasmus' innings of 17 ended when he fell to the Burnley skipper. Jimmy Hayhurst hit a late 16 before falling to Holt on the last ball of the innings which closed on 86-9. Holt (12) and Vishal Tripathi put on a rapid 28 before Holt offered Erasmus (2-35) a return catch. David Brown hit a swift 16 to take the score to 52 when he was stumped by Alfie Taylor off Erasmus. Rain then lopped 4 overs off the Burnley innings which meant that the champions had to chase the full total in 16 overs. Dan Pickup made 9 in adding 27 with Vishal before being held by the diving Erasmus off Clarke. Vishal went on to hit six fours in his 32 ball innings but it was Chris Burton who finished the match with his first scoring stroke a big six over mid wicket off Erasmus with 4.4 overs remaining.
