Accrington professional Ockert Erasmus took a league best 7-46 but his side still went down to a 7 run defeat at Rawtenstall on a day of nail-biting finishes. Joe McCluskie top scored with 35, professional Brett Pelser made 24, Nick Payne 18 and Chris Cook-Martin 15 in Rawtenstall's innings of 123 all out in a 42 overs a-side game. David Ormerod took 2-49 and Jimmy Hayhurst took 1-27 with the help of a catch from his brother Jon. Accrington's reply got off to a decent start with Ramiz Hussain (9) and the promoted Matt Wilson adding 30 before Hussain was trapped by McCluskie. Keith Roscoe removed Wilson for 28 with the score on 45 and 5 runs later skipper Stuart Crabtree followed the same path. Erasmus and Keiren Grimshaw put on 29 before the visiting professional became the first of 4 wickets on 79. Jacob Clarke was run out without scoring, Grimshaw was caught by Cook-Martin off Roscoe for 20 and Ali Hasham was caught by Dean Barlow off Imran Abid. Roscoe also sent back Graeme Sneddon without scoring at 86 but the Hayhurst brothers teamed up again this time with the bat in adding 27 for the 9th wicket. Jon made a career best 19 and Jimmy 12 but both fell to the wiles of Roscoe who took a match winning 6-21 from 15.1 overs.
