Accrington rounded off a fine weekend with a 2 wicket win over second placed Ramsbottom at Thorneyholme Road. David Ormerod made the most of the conditions to pick up his first five wicket haul of the season, taking 5-34 and Jacob Clarke bowled his first 17 over stint in taking 3-48 to restrict Ramsbottom to 157-9. After an opening stand of 25, wickets fell to the medium pacers with only Tom Parton (31) making any impression. A superb slip catch by home professional Ockert Erasmus helped dismiss his opposite number Daryn Smit (2) as the visitors struggled to 54-5 and 80-8. A fine half century by the comebacking Jon Fielding gave Ramsbottom a total to defend. Fielding hit four boundaries in making 53 from 93 balls on his return after a calf injury. He added 77 for the 9th wicket with Tom Booth (16 not out) before falling to the last ball of the innings. Skipper Graeme Sneddon and Matt Wilson put on 27 before both falling to Michael Haslam (2-43) for 12 but Clarke (16) and Erasmus put on a game changing 68 for the 3rd wicket before Fielding (4-33) had the amateur caught by Smit. Smit then trapped Stuart Crabtree (5) and Keiren Grimshaw (0). Ali Hasham (17) halted the slide but when he fell at 149 and Ramiz Hussain 1 run later Ramsbottom saw an opening. Three runs later Erasmus charged down the track and was stumped by Martin Cropper off Fielding for a fine 73 from 83 balls, including six boundaries. Andy Greenwood (3 not out) and Jimmy Hayhurst (2 not out) hit the 5 runs required from 37 balls as Accrington crawled past the finish line to round off a fine performance.
