Accrington held off a strong comeback by Haslingden at Bentgate to register a first win in three matches. Professional Ockert Erasmus top scored with 53 in Accrington's 182 all out. The visitors were struggling on 84-6 but a 7th wicket stand of 36 between Erasmus and Ramiz Hussain and an 8th wicket stand of 45 between Hussain and Jon Hayhurst helped Accrington recover to 182 all out with seven balls remaining. Jake Neary (2-54) removed Matt Wilson (9) at 17 and Matt Griffin had skipper Graeme Sneddon caught behind by Alex Marcroft for 14 nine runs later. Neary trapped Keiren Grimshaw (5) at 33 to bring the belated arrival to the wicket of Erasmus. The South African had been on his way in at the fall of the previous wicket but a tumble down the Bentgate Pavilion steps meant a delayed entry whilst he had an ankle strapped up. He was soon into his stride however adding 46 with Stuart Crabtree who made 15 before being bowled by Jo Sipocz. The left armer then trapped Jacob Clarke for 1 and when Alex Jeffrey touched an Erasmus straight drive on to the stumps to run out Ali Hasham without scoring Accrington were in trouble at 84-6. Hussain and Erasmus dug in adding 36 when Erasmus was trapped by a Sipocz shooter for 53 from 84 balls including eight fours. Hussain and Jon Hayhurst then put on 45 with Hussain hitting four fours before being caught by Sipocz off Griffin for 34. Griffin polished off the tail in taking 4-53 leaving Jon Hayhurst unbeaten on 23. Sipocz also took 3-20. Fine opening spells by David Ormerod (4-54) and Jimmy Hayhurst (4-37) saw Haslingden slump to 67-6. Hayhurst sent back Graham Knowles (10) with Ormerod adding Sipocz (1), de Wett (28), Griffin (2) and skipper Alex Coleman (3) to his long list of victims. Jack Taylor (41) and Marcroft (37) then put on 91 for the 7th wicket when Hayhurst returned to remove them both in the same over. Jordan Shannon made 13 but Accrington held on with Hayhurst bowling last man Sam Coleman to win the match with the score on 175. The win takes Accrington up to sixth in the table.
