A century by Jon Clare and a five wicket haul by Cole Hayman helped Burnley increase their lead at the top of the table after a 68 run win over Accrington at the MyProtein Turf Moor. Clare's sixth Lancashire League century came off 93 balls and contained nine fours and three sixes. Openers Vishal Tripathi and professional Chris Holt (26) opened up with a 61 run stand. Tripathi's 34 included his 4,000th Lancashire League run. David Brown also made his third successive league half century, hitting 54 from 88 balls with six fours and a six. Club Chairman Michael Brown made 17 in his first game of the season to help Burnley to 246-6 which was the top score of the day. Tom Lawson (2-30) accounted for openers Keiren Grimshaw (12) and Jon Hayhurst (7) an the Tripathis combined to dismiss Jacob Clarke (13) but a 4th wicket stand of 89 between professional Ockert Erasmus and Ali Hasham put Accrington firmly back in the match. It took a moment of brilliance by Clare to turn the game back Burnley's way. The third ball of Hayman's second spell proved decisive as Clare took a superb one handed catch at slip to end the innings of Erasmus who made 69 from 70 balls with six fours and three sixes. Hayman then removed Hasham for 44 in his next over. Wickets then tumbled as Accrington fell from 163-6 to 178 all out. Skipper Bharat Tripathi (3-43) and Hayman (5-42) polished off the tail with only Matt Wilson (11) making double figures to send Burnley into a 14 point lead at the top of the table.
