Accrington hit their highest ever score at Lanehead, making 244-7 in their 74 run win over Bacup. Openers Graeme Sneddon and Matt Wilson got Accrington off to a rapid start bringing up the first 50 in the 9th over. Accrington skipper Sneddon made his intentions known from the start when he hit Bacup professional Haseeb Azam back over long off for six in the first over. The openers went on to make 92 before being parted when wicketkeeper Matt Collinge caught Wilson off Azam for 38, made from 51 balls and containing six fours. Sneddon followed seven runs later to the same combination after hitting five fours and a six in making exactly 50 from 70 balls. Stuart Crabtree and professional Ockert Erasmus took the score to 134 when a bowling change brought about the South African's downfall. David Warren took the catch at long leg after Erasmus (23) had hooked Jack Bradford's first ball, a long hop. Bacup skipper Matt Thompson picked up Crabtree for 18 off another short ball which was top edged to Collinge with the score on 151. Jacob Clarke joined Keiren Grimshaw and this pair put on 80 for the 5th wicket with Clarke completing his maiden Lancashire League half century. He hit four fours and two sixes making exactly 50 from the 57 balls he faced before holing out to Adam Highley who took a well judged catch at deep mid wicket off Azam (4-66) who also picked up Ali Hasham for a duck. Grimshaw hit one boundary before falling to Sam Lord for 29 in the final over. Jimmy Hayhurst (2-32) claimed the wickets of openers Collinge (17) and Highley (5) and Clarke (2-48) sent back Azam (25) and young Luke Donovan (1) on his senior debut in Bacup's reply. Erasmus proved to be the match winner taking 5-40 to dismiss Bacup for 170. His victims included Tim Farragher (26) and Thompson who top scored with 38 before smashing the ball straight back to Erasmus who held a brilliant catch off his own bowling.
