Accrington v Rawtenstall
Accrington completed their second win of the weekend, beating Rawtenstall by 7 wickets at Thorneyholme Road. In a match that saw over 400 runs scored and just 7 wickets lost there were three half centuries with new career bests for both number ones. Sam Kershaw hit his second half century of the weekend setting a new career best of 64 made from 85 balls with seven fours and two sixes. He added 108 with Dean Barlow who made 40 on his promotion to open the innings. Nick Payne made 17, professional Brett Pelser 44 and Matt Kershaw an unbeaten 11 as the visitors closed on 206-4. Cameron Holder removed Sam Excell who made a duck against his former club but stand-in skipper Simon Hanson and Ramiz Hussain put on 88 to take the score to 91 when Hanson fell for 29 to Keith Roscoe (2-48). Hussain made a career best 82 from 98 balls with eleven fours before also falling to Roscoe at 200. Accrington professional Ockert Erasmus made an unbeaten 62, adding 109 for the 3rd wicket with Hussain. The South African hit ten fours and faced 66 balls. Marley Ali scored 156 not out today for 2nd XI at Rawtenstall, which is the record individual score for 2nd XI beating Mark Demaine's 136 set in 1989. He made it off 106 balls with 17 fours and 8 sixes as Accrington chased down 266 with more than 8 overs to spare. 15 year old Joe Lloyd also recorded career best bowling figures of 7-45.
