League leaders Accrington took a giant step towards the title by increasing their lead at the top of the table to 35 points after a third win in the last year at the home of the champions Lowerhouse. Half centuries by Graeme Sneddon and skipper Graham Lloyd helped Accrington to 215-8 and then professional Ashar Zaidi took 5-44, passing 50 wickets for the season as Accrington bowled out Lowerhouse for 143 to claim a 72 run win. David Ormerod ended his long wait for his 1300th Lancashire League wicket by clean bowling league legend Chris Bleazard. Accrington began well with Marley Ali dominating an opening stand of 56 with Sneddon. Ali hit four fours and two sixes before being trapped by Paddy Martin for 39. Zaidi made 23 before cutting Fergus Bailey to Jack Edgar at point at 95. Aijaz Shah fell at the same score to Bailey without scoring. Stuart Crabtree added 37 with Sneddon before being bowled by Paddy Martin for 17. Lloyd joined Sneddon and this pair took the score to 153 when Sneddon was caught and bowled by Martin for 50. His innings lasted 104 balls, contained two fours and was his second half century of the season. Lloyd went on to make 60 from 55 balls with eight fours and a six before being out in the last over to Bailey who finished with 4-55. Paddy Martin also took 4-69, including two diving catches off his own bowling. Ben Heap and Jonny Whitehead replied with an opening stand of 62. Simon Hanson split the pair by clean bowling Whitehead for 25. Joe Martin was then run out backing up when Zaidi touched a straight drive by Heap on to the wickets at the same score. Professional Francois Haasbroek made 16 before holing out to Sneddon on the long on boundary off Hanson. Zaidi had Heap caught at slip by Lloyd for 58 from 63 balls. His innings contained seven fours and was Heap's third half century in succession. Paddy Martin was next to go trapped in front by Zaidi for 5 and he was followed by Hawke in the same over as Lowerhouse fell to 119-6. Skipper Charlie Cottam and Bleazard were the champions last hope but Ormerod chose the moment to claim his 1300th victim. Jack Edgar followed without scoring in the same over and then Cottam became Zaidi's 50th wicket of the season after making 16. Zaidi then wrapped up the points by having Fergus Bailey caught behind by Matt Wilson without scoring.
