New Lancashire League champions Accrington received the trophy after a resounding 50 run win over Enfield at Thorneyholme Road. Howard Cook of Lancashire League sponsors Fosters presented the trophy to Accrington captain Graham Lloyd after the match. Lloyd said:"I think you will agree that this is an excellent cricket team. They are a great bunch of lads and they are an absolute pleasure to captain. Just a quick word on someone who is not here. Jimmy Hayhurst is on safari in Kenya. Jimmy has played a big part this year. Aijaz Shah is also unwell today so he can't be here. We have a squad of fourteen players who have been top class and they deserve what they have achieved."

Simon Hanson top scored with 60 in Accrington's 177-7. Hanson hit seven fours and faced 128 balls. Professional Ashar Zaidi made 34 to become only the second Accrington player to pass 1300 runs in a season. Zaidi now has 1313 runs and needs another 132 to break Bobby Simpson's record of 1444 set in 1959. Skipper Graham Lloyd also made an unbeaten 24 with the aid of a runner after picking up a leg injury during his innings. Enfield professional Brad Moses took 4-42. Enfield made a solid start in reply with openers Greg Jones and Lewis Wright posting league best scores in an opening stand of 67. Jones made 41 with four fours before falling to David Ormerod and Wright made 26 before falling to Zaidi. Ormerod also took the vital wicket of Moses for 1 but at 87-2 Enfield looked favourites. Tight bowling and fielding restricted Enfield to 127 all out with Zaidi taking 4-38 and Jacob Clarke 3-17. Skipper Adam Bracewell also made 19 and Chris Maudsley 12. Presentation Pics
