League leaders Accrington extended their club record number of successive home wins to ten with a 93 run win over Bacup at Thorneyholme Road. After losing Simon Hanson (5) at 16 to Peter Fell, Graeme Sneddon and professional Ashar Zaidi put on 91 for the 2nd wicket. Sneddon made 41 from 74 balls with five fours and Zaidi hit 42 from 65 balls with four fours before being run out by his opposite number Aubrey Swanepoel. Marley Ali (14), Aijaz Shah (12) and stand in skipper Stuart Crabtree (10) chipped in but wickets fell on a regular basis until an unbroken 9th wicket stand of 30 between Jimmy Hayhurst (14 not out) and Jacob Clarke (10 not out) set Bacup a victory target of 200 after Accrington finished on 199-8. A total of 41 extras included 30 wides. Swanepeol was Bacup's best bowler with 4-50. Hayhurst then took 5-24 with David Ormerod (2-41) and Zaidi (2-25) also chipping in. Skipper Joe McCluskie crashed a 31 ball 47, including six fours and two sixes but apart from Swanepoel's 11, only Steven Ball with an unbeaten 16 made double figures as Accrington maintained their 40 point lead with eight games to go.
