A century by professional Ashar Zaidi helped Accrington stay in touch with a 101 run in over Haslingden at Thorneyholme Road. Former skipper Jimmy Hayhurst also played a major role in avenging the 132 run defeat a fortnight ago by his former club by taking 5-58 after hitting an unbeaten 20 in Accrington's 214-9. Opener Andy Greenwood (21) steadied the ship with a 60 run stand with his professional after Jack Sudworth had ripped out lefties Graeme Sneddon and Stuart Crabtree at 9. Simon Hanson (26) then added 46 with Zaidi and Paul Carroll made 12 at number ten before falling to Lewis McIntosh (4-72). Zaidi's second century of the season was his fourth for the club and his first at home. His 100 came from 95 balls and contained a dozen fours and three sixes. He then took 4-41, passing 50 wickets for the season, as he and Hayhurst bowled Haslingden out for 113 with a little help from Carroll (1-11). Lee Ingham made 24, professional Harry Boam 23 and Matt Griffin an unbeaten 12 for the visitors.
