Accrington eased through to the 2nd round of the LCB Cup with a 10 wicket win over Gujarat at Thorneyholme Road.

The visitors won the toss and batted, making 105 all out after being 40-2 at one stage. Mubarak Patel hit four sixes and two fours in top scoring with 47. Imran Patel's 15 was the only other double figure score as Accrington's part-time bowlers enjoyed extended spells. Jake Clarke (2-19) picked up his first senior victims and professional Ashar Zaidi ran through the visitors lower order in taking 4-11.

After taking 3-18 with the ball, Simon Hanson then set about the Gujarat attack, plundering ten fours and four sixes in making an unbeaten 77 from just 54 balls. Andy Greenwood made a much more sedate unbeaten 21 from 34 balls as the home side romped home in just 15 overs to secure a first ever win in this competition.

The match was postponed the previous Saturday because the umpires failed to show up.

Accrington will now entertain Lowerhouse in the 2nd Round.
