Enfield v Accrington
Accrington moved to within 10 points of league leaders Lowerhouse after picking up maximum points at Enfield after the leaders were soundly beaten at Burnley. Accrington professional Ashar Zaidi was the man of the moment hitting 90 and then taking 5-40 to put his side in with an outside chance of the title. Zaidi hit eight fours and a six from the 112 balls that he faced to lead Accrington to 199-7. Enfield sub professional Shaun de Kock bowled through the innings in taking 4-80, including both openers Stuart Crabtree (4) and Marley Ali (20). Zaidi and Aijaz Shah put on 95 for the 3rd wicket to take the match away from their title rivals. Shah made 38 from 85 balls as Accrington piled up a formidable score in the conditions. Hassan Fazal was the pick of the five amateur bowlers, taking 3-46. The Hussain brothers put on a swift 32 but Nasser (11) fell to Zaidi and Sagawat (15) was snapped up by David Ormerod who then added de Kock (10) and Adam Bracewell (7) to his tally. Zaidi sent back Ash Gowers and Chris Maudsley with only Joe Wrigley able to come to terms with the conditions in making a top score of 30. At 90-7, Enfield tried to deny their rivals the bonus points but after Fazal was superbly caught by Simon Hanson in the deep. Ryan Brereton walked down the wicket and was stumped by Matt Wilson to earn Zaidi another collection. Ormerod also took 4-43. Accrington now have 187 points with two matches to play next weekend. |
