Second placed Accrington stumbled to a 1 wicket win over Rawtenstall at Thorneyholme Road to narrow the gap to 4 points after Lowerhouse's tie at Nelson. David Ormerod took 6-69 from a 25 over spell as the visitors made 163-9. Danny Barlow top scored with 52 from 99 balls, including five fours and as six. Professional Nilantha Cooray chipped in with 20, Andy Clough 18 and Andy Payne 17. Rizwan Shafiq sent back Stuart Crabtree before a run had been scored but Graham Lloyd dominated a 2nd wicket stand of 40 with Simon Hanson with the youngster making just 7 before falling to Payne. Professional Ashar Zaidi made 11 and Marley Ali 12 but Lloyd was dominating proceedings with a knock of 73 from 76 balls. He hit seven fours and four sixes, passing 400 runs for the season, before falling to Keith Roscoe at 121. Graeme Sneddon (37) and Liam Brankin (8) put on 26 but a series of rash shots put Rawtenstall back in the game as Roscoe (3-28) and Cooray (3-45) picked up 3 wickets apiece. It was left to the last pair of Bryn Hargreaves and Ormerod to see Accrington to victory with more than 10 overs in hand.
