Joint leaders Accrington lost for the first time this season, going down by 10 runs at Acre Bottom at the hands of league champions Ramsbottom. The home side made 189-7 with good knocks by Alex Bell (41), Keith Webb (35), Tom Parton (33), David Bell (26) and professional Shanan Stewart (19). Accrington professional Ashar Zaidi took 3-64. Jon Fielding soon sent back Andy Greenwood without scoring at 6. Michael Haslam (4-31) accounted for left handers Liam Brankin (3) and Simon Hanson (5) as wickets fell at regular intervals. Stuart Crabtree made 27 at the top of the order before falling to Fielding but Zaidi stood firm before eventually succumbing to Fielding for 100 after hitting thirteen fours and two sixes from 94 balls in making his second century of the season. Zaidi's century was also the first by an Accrington player at Ramsbottom in a Lancashire League match. Fielding (5-77) and Haslam wrapped up the innings at 179 to leave Ramsbottom with a clear 5 point lead at the top of the table. Accrington's first defeat of the season means they drop down to third place.
