Accrington beat Church for the first time ever in this competition to keep their hopes alive of qualifying for the semi finals for the first time in Group A. Professional Ashar Zaidi top scored with 69 from 47 balls in Accrington's 143-6. The left hander hit ten fours and a six, adding 57 for the 2nd wicket with Stuart Crabtree (15) and 46 for the 3rd wicket with Simon Hanson (28) before hoisting Andy Bentley to the safe hands of Mohammad Jamil. Graeme Sneddon also chipped in with a useful 17. Home professional Saeed Anwar (12) and Levi Wolfenden (25) opened up with a menacing stand of 26 before Accrington skipper Jimmy Hayhurst trapped the Pakistani in front. Wolfenden and his skipper Craig Fergusson both fell at 47. Jamil (21) and Adam Greenwood (12) put on 32 but Hayhurst (1-22), Zaidi (3-21) and David Ormerod (3-22) combined to dismiss Church for 128 and register Accrington's first win against their local rivals at the sixth attempt.
