Accrington will now have to settle for second spot at best after Lowerhouse's win at Todmorden to clinch the title, but they did their best in beating Bacup by 5 wickets at Thorneyholme Road. David Ormerod passed 50 wickets for the 14th time in picking up 5-57 against his former club who were bowled out for 129. Accrington professional Ashar Zaidi also picked up 3-47. Sub professional Brett Pelser (38) and James Cunliffe, who made 51 from 124 balls with two fours and a six, put on 71 for the 3rd wicket in the main stand of the innings. Henry Butcher also made 20 for the visitors. Andy Spencer (3-39) made early inroads, including pinch hitting skipper Jimmy Hayhurst (14) and when Pelser picked up Zaidi for 12 to leave his opposite number 3 runs short of the magical four figure mark, Accrington were in deep trouble at 52-5. Once again it was down to Graham Lloyd to rescue his side and the former Lancashire star didn't disappoint with an unbeaten 39 in an unbroken 6th wicket stand of 78 with Mitch Taylor (25 not out). Bacup also conceded 29 extras, 23 of which were wides.
