A superb all round performance by Jeff Ellis took Colne to their first win in six matches since the Worsley Cup Final at the expense of Accrington at Thorneyholme Road. The all rounder top scored with 79 in Colne's 192 all out and he then took 6-55 to bowl his side to a 19 run win. Ellis hit five fours and five sixes off 115 balls. He got solid support from professional Anwar Ali (39) and Lewis Rimmer (23). Accrington skipper David Ormerod took 6-64 from an unbroken 23.5 over stint to move on to 49 wickets for the season. Simon Hanson also impressed with 2-35. Ellis soon removed home openers Hanson (9) and Matt Wilson (6) who was caught by his namesake the Colne skipper. Ryan Duerden picked up Accrington professional Will Driver for 25 and Ellis added the scalps of Andy Greenwood (15) and Jimmy Hayhurst (0) to his collection. A 7th wicket stand of 84 between Graham Lloyd and Mitch Taylor put Accrington back in the game but when Lloyd was lbw to Ellis after having hit five fours in a knock of 48, passing 600 runs for the season in the process, the innings quickly folded for 173. Taylor also hit five fours in making 33, his best innings for Accrington before falling to Ali (3-43)
