Church sent defending champions Accrington crashing to an eighth defeat of the season. Andy Bentley's men left the champion's lair with a 4 wicket win on a day that saw all the games affected by rain. Levi Wolfenden (5-41) was the main thorn in the champions side, picking up his second career five wicket haul and then hitting 40. His first victim was the in-form Simon Hanson who was caught behind by Sam Tucker for 3. Graham Lloyd's glove brought the same combination into play again at 31 and Liam Brankin's home senior debut ended with a visit to hospital after a vicious Wolfenden yorker ended his innings for 17. Stuart Crabtree's poor run continued when he failed to leave his foot behind the crease and was stumped by Tucker without scoring. Matt Wilson fell lbw next ball to put Bentley on a hat-trick. Waqas Ahmed survived but was run out after having made 6 after a misfield. Matt Schofield batted well for 21 and Accrington professional Will Driver top scored with 40 in his sides innings of 133, hitting five fours and a five from 83 balls. Paul Carroll chipped Wolfenden to the retreating Adam Greenwood at backward point and the former Accrington man took a fine catch to earn the youngster his second bowling collection. The Church reply was effective if not pretty to watch as the visitors ground out victory with 8.1 overs to go. The match ended with a Ryan North boundary depriving professional Luke Woodcock and the Church Bowling Machine Fund of a collection as the New Zealander finished unbeaten on 49. Skipper David Ormerod picked up 3-49 and Hanson 3-16 with the 80 run 3rd wicket stand between Woodcock and Wolfenden proving to be the best of the match.
