The title race will not be decided until the last weekend of the season after league leaders Haslingden lost at Nelson and Accrington, the only club able to catch them, beat Bacup in rain affected matches. Accrington were also up against it at Thorneyholme Road after Bacup hit 217-9 on another wet wicket. Professional Ryan Broad hit 57 from 80 balls, adding 90 for the 1st wicket with Paul Gallagher (26). The Australian hit four fours and three sixes. Matt Thompson hit 42 and Andrew Spencer 24 but then Joe McCluskie came in and smashed five sixes in an innings of 36 from just 13 balls. Paul Carroll was the man to suffer conceding 109 runs from 18.3 overs after taking over from injured skipper David Ormerod. Carroll picked up 3 wickets as did Damian Clarke (3-28). Broad made early inroads into the Accrington batting line-up, sending back Matt Wilson (6), James Ormerod (5) and Graham Lloyd (1) to have the home side in trouble at 15-3. Rain came and reduced Accrington's target to 141 from 26 overs. Stuart Crabtree kept Accrington's slim title hopes alive by hitting a fine unbeaten 55. The left hander hit three fours and three sixes, passing 500 runs for the season for the first time. He added 85 with professional Roy Silva who made his highest score of the season, 48. Jimmy Hayhurst (9) and Graeme Sneddon (7 not out) also chipped in to earn Accrington a 5 wicket victory with 1 over to spare.
