Lowerhouse v Accrington
New look Accrington top the table alphabetically after a 42 run win at Lowerhouse. Accrington took first knock after winning the toss and were bowled out for 130. Returning old boys Graham Lloyd and Jimmy Hayhurst top scored for the visitors after the loss of some cheap early wickets. Opener Mohsin Ahmed dispatched Jonny Russell's opening ball of the season to the third man boundary but both he and his new partner Paul Carroll (4) didn't hang around long. Ahmed (5) was stumped by Jack McGregor who rolled the ball onto the stumps after the opener posed statuesquelike outside his crease after the ball had passed him. Sub professional Werner Coetsee (6) and Toby Bulcock (8) soon followed but Lloyd stood firm with a knock of 32, adding 34 for the 5th wicket with Matt Wilson (8) before both fell in identical fashion to Chris Benbow. The home side were on top with Accrington struggling on 74-7, but Hayhurst (34) and Simon Hanson (16 not out) put together a stand of 50 which proved to be the match winner. Jonny Russell picked up 3-26 for the home side. New signing Will Driver (37) and skipper Jon Finch (9) put on 35, but David Ormerod and Coetsee strangulated the home sides batting with the South African conceding just a run an over from his 18 over stint in taking 2 wickets. Ormerod picked up 6-56 to bowl Lowerhouse out for 88.
