Accrington v East Lancs
East Lancs go top of Group A after a 44 run win at Accrington who are now out of the competition. Phil Mercer hit four fours and a six in an unbeaten 47 in East Lancs 149-5. Sub professional Jonathan Fielding hit 23, David Pearson an unbeaten 22 and openers Sid Patel and Paul Kelly both made 16. Damian Clarke took 3-26 for Accrington, all of his wickets coming in his last over, two of which were off his final two deliveries to leave him on a technical hat-trick the next time he bowls. Fielding then picked up 3-16 and Kelly 2-14 as Accrington were restricted to 105-9 and consigned to a third straight defeat in this competition. Stuart Crabtree top scored with 19 for the home side with skipper David Ormerod (14) and Clarke (11) sharing an unbroken last wicket stand of 13 when stumps were drawn at 105-9.
